In some cases,
The cover does give us a glimpse of the book…
Project “Look at Me”
Everyone wants to feel good about their appearance. For most people, makeovers are the perfect way to look and feel more confident. But for a person experiencing homelessness a makeover could literally lead to a life-changing transformation – a chance to start over again.
The New Community Shelter helps hundreds of people experiencing homelessness every year. These adults come to us with little to nothing and nowhere left to go. They have lost their home and many have lost their way.
People living at the shelter come to us broken, they are struggling because of depression, alcohol or drug addictions, medical issues, mental health issues or because they have simply fallen on hard times. In many cases you really can get a glimpse of “the book by its cover”.
Project “Look at Me” comes from friends Amanda Auricchio & Leslie Vogel, who came across a video featuring homeless adult getting a makeover and realized that a new appearance was only a part of the total transformation.
The goal of “Look at Me “ is to take 8 individuals and give them an experience that will springboard their self-confidence and self-worth.
We would like to invite you to become a Project “Look at Me” advocate and help this dream become a reality.
