The New Community Shelter has a very strong leadership team with experience in community relations, financial management and shelter management. The case management team is educated & experienced in social work as well as other human service fields. Each emergency shelter resident meets with a case manager within the next business day after arrival and has at least one follow-up meeting each week to discuss progress and problems in achieving their personal goals toward obtaining permanent housing, employment or anything else that will result in self-sufficiency. Two house supervisors are on duty 24/7 to assist residents with their day-to-day needs and to supervise the facility.
The new Community Shelter staff is dedicated to both quality & expansion of the supportive programming available to the participants of all programs. Many onsite programs & partnerships with outside agencies support that effort. The shelter incorporates the perspective of people who have experienced homelessness in programming planning & evaluation. The program utilizes surveys and suggestions from residents and program participants to better understand and meet their needs.
With the combination of a professional staff and the personal experiences of the residents and program participants, collaboration with area agencies, the New Community Shelter provides exceptional emergency and supportive services in an atmosphere of respect.
